TAHOMA 31
Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass
Tahoma 31 is a hybrid Bermuda variety developed for high resistance to cold, traffic, and drought, making it one of the best choices for sports fields, golf courses, residential lawns, and green areas in transition climates.

Foot Traffic Tolerance
Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass has excellent tolerance to foot traffic and wear, making it one of the most resistant hybrid Bermuda varieties for high-traffic areas. Its dense structure and rapid regeneration capability make it an ideal choice.
Cold Resistance
The Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass has been specifically developed to offer greater cold resistance compared to other Bermuda varieties. While Bermuda grass is generally known for its heat and drought resistance, Tahoma 31 stands out for its ability to withstand colder conditions, making it an excellent choice for transition zone climates, where temperatures fluctuate between winter cold and summer heat.
Shade Tolerance
Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass is an excellent option not only for sunny areas but also for those with partial shade and high foot traffic areas. Studies confirm that it adapts well to conditions with up to 63% shade, making it a viable alternative for gardens and urban spaces that do not receive direct sunlight all day long.
Spring Green-up
According to the results of the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP), Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass has proven to be exceptional in terms of spring green-up. In the study conducted between 2014 and 2017, its performance was tested against other vegetatively propagated Bermuda varieties in 16 countries. Tahoma 31 was the first variety to break dormancy, making it an excellent choice for areas with cold winters and quick spring recovery.
Drought and Salinity Resistance
Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass is a leading option in water efficiency and salinity tolerance. Its reduced water usage (18% less compared to other Bermudas) and better performance against salinity make it one of the most sustainable and low-maintenance turfgrass varieties for hot climates and arid regions.
For areas with water limitations or exposure to salinity, Tahoma 31 is one of the best options available, combining resilience, efficiency, and superior performance.
Lower mowing height
Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass is a standout variety not only for its drought and salinity resistance but also for its impressive ability to adapt to a wide range of mowing heights. Its capacity to tolerate an extremely low mowing height (from 50mm down to 3.2mm) gives it a significant advantage over other Bermuda varieties, making it an ideal choice for applications where a perfectly level and resilient turf surface is required.
